Air stone / tetras with my male crowntail

I just got my first tank and I am looking for some help. It is a 5g and I have my betta in there right now. It is cycleing right now. I am looking into getting a few neon tetras and a shrimp. I was thinking about 3 to 4 tetras and 1 or 2 ghost shrimp. I wanted to make sure that this would not over populate the 5g.

Also I have a decoration with an air stone in it. would it hurt the fish to get it going. I have heard that some fish cant have airstones with them.

thanks for your help

I think that 5 gallons is too small for a betta, tetras AND shrimp, actually it's kinda too small for just a betta and tetras.
You could do a few ghost shrimp and a betta though. :)

Tetras need 10 gallons and at least 5 friends to live happily, so they cant live in your tank.

However, the shrimp will probably be okay, assuming your fish doesnt eat them (ha, it happens...) Consider adding in 3-4, Id say. Theyre actually quite social.

Cycle the tank fully first, and be careful of you nitrates once you do. Shrimp are very, very sensitive.

Make sure they have lots of places to hide and are well fed, and your betta/shrimp tank will work just fine.
