Dividing 10 Gallon so Bettas Can't See Each Other

I currently have one betta in a 10 gallon that I'd like to divide and add two more bettas. I've never had a divided tank, but it just seems there would be constant flaring, and it would just add a lot of stress. I've heard of putting plants near the dividers so the bettas cant see each other, but I'd like to do that as a last resort. I'm wondering if I can attach a black background to the dividers so there's no way of each betta being visible to one another? Any other suggestions?
Thanks

you can get colored plastic craft mesh. a lot of people just use that instead of the stuff that comes in the kits anyways
