HI! i maybe a smidge late here is what i paid for my ten Gallon:

tetra ten G tank kit w/filter light tank hood-40.00
aqueon 50W heater-36.00
TetraColor Pellets and Bloodworms- 6.00
decor- 15.00-20.00
betta- 14.99 (delta tail, ridiculously healthy)
conditioner- 5.00-10.00
Gravel Siphon- 7.00
Approx cost: 130.00

YOu can keep tetras, cories, etc with bettas, be sure to read up on the nitrogen cycle though.
Message me for more info, plus ive found JKfish's and oldfishlady's advice veery helpful, so I would try to find them on the site. (not to say other's advice isnt helpful, but this is from my excperiance) You will need to baffle the filter if you go with this kit.
