How can I tell finrot is gone and growth is taking place?

So basically, I bought my fish.. Wednesday, and I did 100% water change on Thursday, was busy Friday, then did a 50% water change today (Saturday)
I had the filter running but turned it off, and Ive used AQ salt, and I treat my water with prime. The tank is usually 78-80 degrees, usually 80, never above though.

So how can I tell if it is working? how long until new fins grow. Some of the fins (crowntail) have whiteish clear edges which I think is good, but others dont. Its just his tail, not his other fins. Grrr.

white/clear edges is regrowth. He will regain his colour, however it takes a bit longer. Regrowth may vary. A high protein diet will help with fin regrowth. My boy gets frozen (not freeze dried) blood worms once a day. Some people recommend live food like mosquito larvae. Just keep up with the clean water, and try some high protein foods.
