first time breeding?

This is my first time breeding bettas(yay)! but I have no idea what to expect from the fish... I currently have three pairs. I am not very good at understanding genetics or names for coloring, so I put the colors in parenthases.

pair 1
male- crowntail- cambodian? (irredecent magenta body, red fins)
female- crown tail- turquoise? (very shiny turquoise body, faded to dark blue fins)

pair 2
male - deltatail- royal blue? (blue all over, with appr. 1 cm of white on the edge of his fins)
female- crowntail- red, blue, white? (front 1/4 of body is white, faded tp 3/4 back of body is a pretty light blue, red fins)

pair 3
male- deltatail- opaque? (sort of shiny, all white, one gray dot on left front fin)
female- crowntail- opaque? (very shiny, all white)
(in pictures their fins don't show up because they are so light)

What should I expect from these breeding pairs in colors and fins?

(yes, I already have a breeding tank, fry food, a bigger tank, and jars for the male fry when they mature.)

Well you should never breed a delta tail and a crowntail together. you will get undesirable fry(even though I like them) their fins won't look good until many generations later. the male in your pair 2 is called a blue butterfly. i would take the male from pair 1 and the female from pair three to breed them. from all the pairs you have now you would get fry with "mutt" genes. even though i think they would be fine, people who you would sell them to wouldnt buy them. good luck with spawning.

because of this I had to google it... are combtails(crowntail+deltatail?) looked down upon? I thought that they looked rather cool from what I found...?

Why would you pair those two together!? does it make a fancy color?

i just thought those to would be a nice pair. post some pics of them. and yes unfortunatly combtails are looked down upon.

A delta X veil will get you 100% veil tail so that would be a not so good cross.

1) CT fry, multicolor

2) Don't do it, undesirable finnage

3) Don't do it, undesirable finnage

Of these, your best bet is the first one. Or you could cross the CT male with any of the 3 females for an interesting combination of multicolors :)
