Genesis (and his first bubble nest!)

I realized I never gave pictures of Genesis in here~
I just got him on Sunday. He has a bit of finrot, but we're working on that with daily water changes.

I thought he was getting worse, but I woke up to a bubble nest today!



I know his bowl's too small. I've mentioned this in a thread I posted--my parents are unsupportive of me having him, and I currently can't afford both a heater and a tank. I should have the money soon, and when I do, my best friend has agreed to bring me out to petsmart to pick up both.
Trust me, if I had known how unsupportive my parents were over him, I would not have taken him home.

He's gorgeous. But your bowl is much to small and needs a heater. I recommend at least 2.5 gallons for any Betta.

I'm very aware of this. I've mentioned this elsewhere, but my parents refuse to let me spend more money on him. So until I save up enough for both his heater and a 2.5gal, he'll need to be in there. I've currently only got enough for one. Once I have enough for both, my best friend's taking me out to petsmart to buy them.

It's just a very frustrating thing. I feel bad that he's in there.

If you can only get the bigger tank for now (you said you only had enough money for one), do that. It will give him more space and you will have to change the water less. You can get the heater later. That bowl is too small for a heater anyway.

My best friend said she'd drive me whenever, so maybe I'll see if she wants to go today. I just need to ask.
I was holding off though, because his behavior was really odd yesterday, and I had a feeling he was going to die. I wouldn't be able to afford another betta, so if I spent my money on a new tank, and the fish ended up dying like, the next day, then it would have been the waste my parents don't want me to do. x[

Odd how? Bettas can act really strange sometimes, but it doesn't mean they're sick.

He was kind of falling to the bottom of his bowl a lot, and really sudden.
He also wasn't eating at all.

He might have something wrong so keep a close eye. Just because he is making a bubble nest doesn't necessary mean he is totally healthy. I have seen bettas in nasty cups with a bubblenest. I think they built it out of absolute boredom. Something to do.

He is very pretty and the bubblenest does look wonderful!
