Hey guys, just a little update...

I did the epsom salt and bettafix last night and another change tonight. His fins are coming off a bit on the ends but he is more active, upright, and his scales seem to be flatter! His fins also seem slightly more mobile.

How much longer should I continue with epsom salt and/or the bettafix?

Thank you for your well wishes guys. Sakura, I paid my rent today and had a little left over so I DID buy Seachem prime today! =] I'll use it in the future with all my guys.

Oh that's great! I think you'll notice a big change in your bettas now that the extra ammonia can be dealt with. I'm so glad his scales are starting to come down. Maybe your betta is the lucky one with dropsy from indigestion. I sure hope so.

I'd continue with the epsom salts/bettafix for another few days at least or until he looks well and truly like he's on the road to recovery.

Continue the epsom salt treatment for at least 4-5 days after all symptoms are gone. I wouldn't use the bettafix. If you don't see him much better in 3 days or so get some Maracyn II if you can. Make sure you are doing daily 100% water changes and try to up the temp to 84* if possible.
