..mm.. impulse buy? i know that its bad to do that.. but they are so cute! petsmart had guppies on sale again, so i was going JUST TO LOOK.,, but ive never seen these types of guppies before, and i liked their pastelly colors. i think theyr mixed with endlers, maybe a few generations ago? idk, i was wondering if someone who knows about guppies could enlighten me about what type they are?
oh, and any type of guppy advice would be great. theyr currently in a QT tank. ive never kept them before, so im kinda just winging it right now! being tropical fish, i assume that their care is similar to bettas...
just to clear it up, i dont think im keeping them with my male betta

Reason: forgot pics!
The guy on my LFS said they tend to grow big, I was looking today for bottom feeders besides snails... He said for my 10G he would put 2-3 of them at most, but if they got big enough I would had to change.. that scared me LOL! XD!
So I ordered 5 more shrimps and asked them to call me straight away when they arrive.. cus last shrimps they ordered kinda got eaten within a week... O.o! Just not the last 2 I bought almost a month ago... HA! XD!
guppies... right? i have friends that keep guppies... and im pretty sure they dont get as big as, say, a betta. bettas are about 2-3 inches in length. theyre definitely smaller and slimmer than bettas.. i dont understand why they would say that 2-3 guppies per 10 gal, cuz from what ive seen people could keep about 5 guppies in their 10 gals along with some other misc. species and everything was stable..
I have 5 females on my 10G, I know it was suppose to be 4 (2.5 per betta) but the last one was SOOO tiny and the females were on the same tank with a male (don't ask) so I got scared she would die on that tank alone with the male, besides, I was watching her on the LFS for like 2-3 weeks and she never grew, I thought she was like a betta-dwarf, been 3 days and she is like 1.3x bigger than when I got her.. >_>!
But yeah, I would totally overstock (even more) with the 2-3 guppies, I want something like snails or shrimps xD! Snails are so awesome but they are dying on me, idk why, the shrimps are fine, just the snails, they grew alot and now are dying, after the 2nd month or something... :C! Maybe their metabolism with me are way too fast (no joking) so I want to avoid the snails, maybe my tap water have some chemical that are deadly to them :C
And I'm way going away from the original topic.. Sorry!! But yeah I love how guppies looks like, they are like mini-bettas which are social aaand with rainbow colours.. lol! XD
snails... maybe your water is too acidic? what kind of snails? if they are pond... i doubt they live long, seeing how mine never really get big either but they multiply like rabbits, esp since its their breeding season in my tank!
ugh now that i have guppies i want to get the finnex 4 gal tank for them.. been eyeing it for a while now.. it looks really nice. :D
You can keep 5-6 guppies in a ten gallon.
I'd only put 3 (should always be 3 females per one 1 male) because they breed like mad and can store sperm for many fry drops to come.
I use to have a lot of guppies..kept 5-6 in a 10g.
I think in the short time I had them in the 10g..I saw about 50+ fry. (between just 3 females)
Now I just have about 5-6 in a 40g with other fish.
I don't know what you have your guppies in in those pics? Looks like a bowl?
Guppies need water conditions just like other tropical fish. Heater, filter, and a cycled tank.
hehe, they are apple snails, I have 1 last, I put him on my male tank in case is something on the other tank making it sick... But idk, the shrimps are WAY sensitive to water changes and levels, if something is wrong on the water shrimps are the first ones to die, so I really have no idea what made them die/get sick, I can guess is the bacteria they devoured before I could clean it. :C

ah actually its a 2 gallon temporary tank... i change the water everyday by 50% since its small to keep the levels down and clean. i used my 10 gal cycled tank water and seeded it w gravel from it too. my place is constantly at a 75-80 temp, so heaters arent necessary, just the room temp is already okay.

ack, apple snails.... never had luck w/ them too.. i kept one BREIFLY, like the 2 weeks it was under my care as well as my friend's.
i have nerites now. theyr very pretty with natural markings on their shells and imo do a much better job of cleaning.. AAAAAND, theyre still with me, after like 6 months. :D
