I have a 5 gal filtered tank with one red male veil tail betta. The water is at about 78 degrees and my water levels were tested recently and came back fine.
He's mostly red but reflects blue. On his belly just below his gills, an area of scales have turned almost a white color. It is not little specs, the whole area is mostly white and the white area is not raised bumps (the description of ich is usually described as salt or sugary looking, not sure if that means they are raised bumps).
No other specs or white areas are anywhere else on his body. He has remained active and still eats normally. I just got him about a week ago and has been perfectly fine until I noticed the color change.
I have a picture attached but unfortunately I am the owner of a very active fish so sorry if it's hard to see :(
