She'll be fine. It's not like I have a choice. There's no WAY I could have floated her in the 5 gallon. It wouldn't have worked, and I wouldn't have been able to put the lid on. She's my tough little Wal*Mart girl. She'll live.

Or you could add a top that extends over her side of the tank and if she jumps she will have to flop back into her own side (or the other side I guess) and after she does so it will discourage her from doing it again. But then again she might not be able to flop back and then she will die.

I don't have a way to do that. The filter's in the way, and I'm not going to chance her dying. She'll be FINE in an unheated tank for a couple of weeks.

I second Sweeda. The fish will survive. I've heard of breeders keeping fish in 60 degrees or less :P

It's usually at least 73* in our house. Also, she's in a place where the sunlight hits, so she'll be warmer. I'm not worried. I had Sequin for months before I got a heater (I was clueless then). He's one of my hardiest fish.

You can definitely keep her without a heater for a month, she'll be fine.
You could also get some craft mesh and cut it to fit over her side of the divider. I did that with my new guy's side of the divided tank.Just place the mesh ontop, on the edge of the divider and the tank edges.

It won't work. Even if I cut out a hole JUST where the filter is, she could jump through that hole and get stuck on top of the mesh, and I wouldn't know until it was too late. I'm not taking that chance. Thanks anyway!

Rant: Overheard some people at the Student Centre today going on about how they: "left a sucker fish in the tank since February, it's got algae and stuff EVERYWHERE, we only found out yesterday that it was still alive LOL...the water was totally green and s***"
