Water Change????

Gonna do my first water change today. Figure about 50%. Question ... Should I be sucking any junk off the gravel or should I just be changing the water? Thanks in advance.

Hey all, I'm new here and have been lurking for about a week as I read the forums and try to figure out if getting a betta is right for my family. One thing I'm not clear on is how you would clean the substrate if it is dirty. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh my gosh! My first post and I wasn't even polite. Not a "please" or a "thank you" in sight. My sincerest apologies.

Well petco and petsmart carries siphon gravel vacs... They clean out the substrate while removing the water.

Thanks! That sounds like a good way to remove the gunk and remove some water for a water change at the same time. :) I was wondering how to remove water in the least disruptive manner.

Yeah water siphon's are really gentle. The fish don't even notice it at all.
