Do you think you could get a few close up shots of the first and second fish? They look like plakat males to me. The way they are flaring in the group shots looks very suspicious to me. They could just be very large and aggressive females, but I can't tell from the pics..

Pictures are difficult to get of the largest female. She's constantly on the move. But I did take a video which contains the first two fish you asked about, as well as my favourite female (and a few of their other non-betta friends!)

All the females in my tank flare quite often... you can even see them flaring in the video!

Gorgeous gals!! I <3 #4 she's very pretty! Love the look of your tank.. I've been kinda wanting to try the black/dark sand look.. and actually seeing it makes me want to use it more!!

Never mind me thinking they were boys. LOL Now that I saw the videos I take back that question. haha

They are gorgeous!! I have never had girls that had such long pectorals or were so beefy. :)

Thank you! #4 is my favourite, I just adore her colouring. Black sand is the best, you definitely should give it a go!

Haha, you are not the first person to think the first fish was a plakat. She's a big girl - I've never seen a female her size... or a male for that matter. Hehe


A quick question for everybody: Are they all veiltails?

I don't think any of them are VT's actually, they all look like (female of course!) Plakats.

Really! Hmm... That is very interesting. Plakats are my favourite! I bought them at 2 different stores in 3 different trips so that's pretty impressive if they are all plakats.

I'll have to change it to the Blue Gill PK Group!

I agree that they seem like plakats, but I'm not the best at determining that stuff so I keep my mouth shut :p
