Idk what to do i changed his water and everything but he still twiches:( can some one help me! Please.!
He's a male crown tail, we keep him in a one gallon tank, he has no air filter or anything.. we feed him twice a day he doesn't seem bloated or anything..

If you could answer these questions it would help
Housing
What size is your tank?
What temperature is your tank?
Does your tank have a filter?
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration?
Is your tank heated?
What tank mates does your betta fish live with?

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish?
How often do you feed your betta fish?

Maintenance

How often do you perform a water change?
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change?
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change?

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Ammonia:
Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed?
How has your betta fish's behavior changed?
When did you start noticing the symptoms?
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how?
Does your fish have any history of being ill?
How old is your fish (approximately)?
In a 1gal you need twice a week water changes, If hes being twitchy he could maybe have a parasite or something so a picture really would help :) Have you seen any changes in him? Any spots or anything?

try changing the water 50% (minimal or even full water changes) every other day, also try to get a small ehater/temper taker, 1gs are hard to heat though

EM0280729, it sounds like your sister's betta has some ammonia poisoning. He's twitching because the ammonia in the water is burning him. You can help him this way: first, change 25% of his water now. Tomorrow, change another 50% of his water. On the third day, change 100% of his water. After that, get on a regular schedule of frequent water changes.

In a 1 gallon bowl, you will need to change his water at least every other day, no less than 50% each time. While a gallon bowl is fine for a betta when the water is changed frequently, you may want to consider upgrading to a 2 gallon tank or more because it is, as Waterbottle2 stated, easier to heat. Your guy needs temps of at least 78-80 degrees farenheit.

Hope this helps.

Under the message box where you type your reply click on go advanced. On the new message box screen find the paper clip (it will be next to the smilies button). Click on it then click on choose file. Find your file then click on upload. Repeat until you've uploaded all the pics you want. Close the pics window when you're done, then click submit reply.
