The smaller ones naturally LOL..... seriously - feed them only bugs with rather soft exoskeleton, such as fruit flies, etc. If you happen to come across ant eggs/larva, they contain high protein.

mosquito larvae has been suggested by several members.
Personally, the only bugs my fish will be getting will be the unfortunate kind who find his tank. I'm just too squeamish.
Now worms on the other hand... happy lil piglet.

One time there was a small mosquito buzzing around my head and i smacked it in a way in which its body was still intact. I probably shouldnt have but I fed it to my Betta, Lance, and he seemed to love it. It's natural right? Id figure the bugs natural chitin exoskeleton would act as a fiber making it more easy to digest? I don't know it was a one time thing but Lance is healthy as ever.

Bugs for bettas

I give Oscar a few mosquito larvae every few days. They breed in a bucket on my patio that I'm using to pre-soak my mopani wood...

He loves them!

I give my king betta a small cricket every once in a while(I just started doing this), and one of my females grabbed a cricket meant for my African butterfly fish and ate it, I was freaking out a little bit, I so sure she was going to choke on it D: she somehow ate it, but was pretty chubby afterwords. Now I hand feed my AFB to avoid this happening again lol

Has anyone ever used small meal worms?
