Can you get a pic of him? Most bettas do "slow down" once they hit 2 years old or so but as long as he still has an appetite and swims alright he could just be maturing... BUT, we need to make sure there isn't anything bugging him.

Does he hide all day?
Is he clamped?
Are there any white splotches, dots or injuries?
Are his eyes cloudy, pale or "sad looking"? His eyes should be clear and dark.
Look at him with a flashlight, do you see any gold speckles?
Does he dart or scratch against decor?
Is he bloated?

I will try to get a pic soon, I am getting blue and purple in my hair today though.

Does he hide all day? Kind of, but he comes up to see me.
Is he clamped? no, but he is ragged
Are there any white splotches, dots or injuries? One broken scale
Are his eyes cloudy, pale or "sad looking"? His eyes should be clear and dark. Yes, they are clear but sad looking
Look at him with a flashlight, do you see any gold speckles? no
Does he dart or scratch against decor? no
Is he bloated? not more than usually

I think your guy is just feeling his age. :/ You've had him for a long time and a betta's average lifespan is 1-3 years. This doesn't necessarily mean he's going to die within the next few days, it could just mean he's slowing down. Just give him lots of love and good care and he could go on for a while yet, just not as peppy. However, if he starts to develop any unusual behaviors, post back. Lethargy like laying on the bottom of the tank not moving, darting, bloating, SBD problems, all of those kinds of symptoms are unusual and may need treatment.
