Exclamation Too Much Food, Or Just Hunger?

OK, so I know that bettas are not big eaters at all, but my betta Mr. Jingles is hungry all the time!! He always swims as close as he can get to the food dish and he eats all of his food in 5 seconds FLAT! So, I started feeding him twice a day and he always eats it all. It's flake food by the way. Is this normal? Should I be worried? I only got him like at the beginning of July I think. Thanks for the help!

Bettas can be little pigs....lol.....they will wag their tail and beg for food all day long...but you have to resist temptation.....its so easy to overfeed these guy.....good that you are spacing out the feedings....small frequent meals of a good quality varied diet is best....I would also get another type of food or even live food like mosquito larva to add a third small feeding a day and if he is begging for food like that......those Betta can be really easy to teach tricks too......

Yesterday, I posted about my Diggy who's been fed with 40-50 pellets everyday for a month:

http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=76248

Yes, he can eat up ~25 pellets within 1-2 minutes!
I guess some Bettas have big appetite.

However, everyone here recommends about 4-5 pellets a day, and one day of fasting every week.
I'm starting to put my Diggy on a diet, but he's so angry at me.

If overfeeding doesn't cause bloat that leads to constipation then buoyancy problems...overfeeding that leads to obesity can cause fatty liver disease and early death......just sayin.....but it sure can be hard to resist temptation when they wag that tail and beg for food....lol......
