Duckweed..

I was looking to buy some duck weed to eventually spread across three of my tanks, but I can't find it anywhere. The only places I go that have aquatic plants are petco and petsmart. I live in lakewood, CO if anybody knows of anywhere that sells it.
I would also be willing to be it from somebody on here if it was cheep enough :)

you could find it in a pond, all you need is one little plantlet and within a few weeks the enitre surface will be covered in the stuff.
are you sure you want it?

I got mine acidentially by hunting for live food in a stream. A few peices must have snuck into the jar now its taken over the surface, all my other tank covers the light from my other plants, grows like a weed and i cant get rid of it. argh its so cruel to me.

Ya usually Duckweed is just that, a weed! No one really wants to buy it because it's over take the tank. I got some fish from some local people and duck weed was in the bag (they use it as a cheap ammonia eater in travel) and I put it in my tanks. It won't grow for me though! Blah. If you were closer, I'd so send some to you. I had to wait months for someone to share with me lol

If you plan to use it for breeding make sure not to make the same mistake as i did, QT it indoors and keep those pesky dragonflies away, rinse it/repeat xD I really love the stuff, it grows fast, its not picky, it helps water quality, as long as i scooped a handful out here and there it was great. I have a canal in my backyard and 3 buckets covered in it outside, if only i knew how to send it!

You can usually find some pretty cheap on aquabid, ebay or aquatic plant forums...I plan to buy some this fall/winter..once I am sure 100+ degree weather wont be an issue...
