filter baffle

I didn't like the water bottle baffle cause it was still to much current /: so I come up with something is with my own filter but the thing is I stuffed the bottom (the intake) with a sponge and it works perfectly (: but I was wondering won't that effect my filter by not filtering the tank right? cause it's not letting the particles in the water being sucked up? does that matter? does it effect anything?

All you have done is add extra surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow and reduced the gallons-per-minute (gpm) rate of your filter. As long as you are still getting a good steady flow of water through your filter what you have done is fine and should be enough filtration to keep you betta's home clean. You may need to unclog/clean debris from the sponge in your intake tube every so often however as it may overtime stop water from passing through all together. The size of your aquarium and the number of other inhabitants are more important factors than the little amount that you have slowed down your filters flow. Hope this helps!
