Delta or Doubletail?

Usually people on this forum use DT for delta, and Dbt or similar abbreviations for Doubletail.
Well yesterday, after searching through some older threads for interesting dicussions, I came across someone who said they had a DTHM fish. Someone else responded "How is it a delta and a halfmoon? It can't be both."
The original poster responded that usually on fish forums, Dt is Doubletail, not Delta. Delta is usually abbreviated Del or something like that.
So do we use DT or Dbt for Doubletail? Dt or Del for Delta? Was the person on that thread who thought DTHM meant delta halfmoon just confused or mistaken? Or is DT=Delta correct for this forum?

I think DTHM is meant to be abbreviated DBTHM. :) So they were kind of right. But DeT or DT is usually delta tail, and DBT is double tail.

lol thats funny, i seem to prefer DT for double tail and DeT for delta. DT is probably a abrev. that can work for both. mine was posted as a DT by a thai breeder.

We may need an IBC intervention! LOL.

I always use DT for Double Tail. Delta I just write Delta.

If I were to say my betta was a "double" you would wonder what I was talking about. I need to say "double tail". Conversely if I say my betta was a "delta" you would know exactly what I was talking about. Therefore in my mind DT would be double tail.

I use DBT for doubles, and just write out Delta. Or I get all funky and get my triangle out.

(Yeah, lol, nerd nerd.)

The correct abbreviation for double tail is DT.

Delta isn't technically a tail type if you're speaking the IBC's language. A delta would be a halfmoon with a severe fault in that it's caudal fins are not 180*.

That said the accepted abbreviation for Delta is Det.. but honestly you shouldn't ever need to abbreviate Delta because it's not like you'd ever combine it with anything the way you do with double tails (eg DTHM, DTCT, DTPK, etc).
