Aw, poor guy
Your Howard and my Finn are exactly alike... except Finn had SBD and finrot:





He's been in espm salt, 1 gal. QT tank for almost 1 week, 100% daily water changes, he now: makes bubble nest, can swim (before he only floated), has new fin growth!!!!
and he eats "big kid food" (whole, not crushed pellets)

Well, Howard's still doing very well - I'd swear his fins get bigger by the day.

He's developing some nice silvery patches along what's left of his rays

On top of that, he blew his first nest (Since I've had him anyway) - It's only small, but it's a good start.

Does anyone know offhand a way to gauge a Betta's age? The shop I got him at has some stunning fish, but I have no intention whatsoever of listening to a word they say if they keep their animals in a way that allows them to get into this condition, so I can't really ask them.

Totally normal for them to grow back quicker. He's in a better environment, and probably less stressed out. As long as he's healing, don't worry about it :3
