With the recent events with minors committing suicide in relation to online bullying. Many sites that allow cyber bullying have age limits for legal reasons.

That's ridiculous. Some people are so messed up these days.

Very true green tea!! I buy my Betta's from a privately owned store in Austin called aqua tek. Although I did buy a Betta 6 months ago that had another Betta in his cup from wal mart. I knew it was wrong but I also knew I wouldn't forgive myself if I left them both in their together...one of them would have died...

@Bettas Rule - I understand the urge to save a life, even knowing another sad one will replace it.. I just do not understand anyone who can justify spending a single dollar there on a tank, clothing, food, etc. They support an oligarchical business who treat their employees hardly better than they treat their dying live animals. There is ALWAYS another option.

I completly agree with you and I also feel the same way about all major pet stores. In my perfect world I would start a bettas only store and I would bring the beauty of all Betta's to the public. All of the Betta's would have plenty of space and would be well taken care of till they leave. Once people have an outlet and an educational resource for Betta's they can naturally boycott the abuse of the chain stores by not buying their Bettas

I bought one betta at Wal-Mart knowing she had a 99% chance of dying in the next two hours (she did). And I've only bought my bettas at the chain pet store because frankly, the bettas at my LFS weren't in any better shape. :( Why, people? Why can't you take better care of these fish? You take such good care of your expensive $40 discus for sale, why not the $3 veiltail betta? *sobs*

BRB moving to Minnesota! Who's coming with me?! Betta commune anyone?

@Bettas Rule, yeah I agree. There is a petco by me that treats their bettas (and all fish and animals) amazing and I only shop there. I know the money is spread out and just goes to the company in general but I give them good feedback and tell other stores about them hoping to inspire some change. There is literally no local fish store in the area, I have searched and searched. I wish someone would prove me wrong. The closest one is bout 45 minutes away and I don't even know that they have bettas.
