That's unusual then. The photos looks like a bubble nest and from the photo of the fish it looks like it might be a male. Strange how that happens then. Guess you learn something new everyday.
I actually still find the whole situation hard to believe. I've seen males with fins shorter than most and my belief is that Hermia is not a female at all.
if she does it again, ill take a picture of them in the net when the bubbles pop. its a girl u guys, she has a egg tube, and shes not a platek or what ever type, she a moon tail female.
how bazare! i think this goes agianst everything i know about betta mating. i can gaurantee that the eggs will never hatch so u can either leave them to be eaten or take them out. this is soo unusual becuase males usually take care of the eggs not females, and you said shes gaurding them? truely incredible thank you for sharing this phenomenon with us, just when you think you know it all. i wonder if maybe befor you got her the lfs had her in with a male?
i dont blame you taking care of babies are a hassel! im so glad that she got to lay those eggs, i dont knoe why but my old female couldnt. i think i told you. well good luck with her agian she is an amazing fish!
