Poll: Aquabid fish

I just wanted to know how people would feel about buying more "local" fish. Obviously there are a ton overseas but would you feel better about buying them locally?

I would buy locally because it's less complicated.

I'd rather buy locally like in the same area to cut out shipping costs!

I dont thin I would buy from american breeders either. Express mail takes 2-3 days to get here and with winter temps as low as -65F i wouldn't risk it. Maybe next summer??

I didn't necassarily mean this winter or fall I just meant ever.
I've just read a lot about people being a little bit intimidated.

buying from the US is definitely cheaper/easier/faster, but just seems that there's soooooooo many more breeders from Thailand that there's a much wider variety available. the one AB boy I currently have is originally from Thailand but had already been imported in when I bought him. actually in the process of buying directly from a Thai breeder for the first time right now O_o

it depends of the colour im looking for, and tank setup. i got a DT off AB because of its apperances and colour. i'd like to have a 5 gal divided but at that time i had 2 betta, one likes ial the other doesnt. got a 5gal i could divide and get the other in a bigger tank. i'll probably go locoal from now on. shipping costs a pretty penny.

I bought my fish from overseas and I would say it was an overall good experience. My fish shipped healthy and I was able to pick it up from the trans shipper so I didn't half to worry about double shipping. My fish is apparently "the coolest fish in the neighborhood" so all in all good good :D

I prefer to support "home-grown" fish if I can. It seems like there's not many US breeders but that's really not the case.. its just most of them don't advertise fish for sale because dealing with customers is a hassle.. even I've seen that first hand. I can email probably any breeder in the IBC and ask if they have fish available if I'm looking for something specific.
