Betta Fish Still Sick... (maybe)

Hi! I'm new on here and I'm a bit concerned about my betta still... He is a few months old, his name is Tai (I know it doesn't have the h in there) and I believe he may still be sick. You see, he was moderately constipated so I fed him peas and gave him an Epsom salt bath. It worked, he pooped an hour after I gave him the epsom salt bath. Problem is, when you look at him from the top, he looks almost normal, but at the side it hasn't changed much. I hope no one finds this disgusting but I was observing him and he looked as if he had a swollen anus, because where he poops is red with white on it..... I'm confused! Also can someone tell me how many times a week he's supposed to poop. I don't want to lose a betta!

It sounds like it could be an internal parasite. If you look in the tropical fish general forum under tropical fish diseases, there is a sticky posted by Lupin that highlights many common diseases and parasites. I can't remember which one it is, but there is one on there that sounds very much like what you've described.

Good luck!
