Check out craigslist. Sometimes you can find really good deals on tanks there. I got a 29 gallon with hood light for 20 dollars. 10 gallons are usually 15-20 dollars on craigslist, and sometimes they come with decor and extra supplies.

I haven't noticed the water evaporating any faster than my other tanks.
