3 year old brother ripped my betta's tail

My 3 year old brother decided to play with my betta that i just got 2 days ago and ended up ripping the betta's tail, I wasnt in the room when this happened. Its a halfmoon betta so he ripped the middle tail (sorry dont know the name.) I really dont want the betta to die, anything i can do to save him?

you should put the little guy up where your brother can't reach him anymore. x:

as long as it didn't hurt your betta's body, just keep his water extra clean, change it daily if you can. if you can get some form of tannins, either from Indian Almond Leaves or DECAF green tea bags, that'll help him relax and help his fins grow back better.

Welcome to the forum, sorry your betta friend didn't work out so well being playmates with your brother.
Stress coat+ will help with his slime coat, as well as promotes fin growth. May not need to do daily water changes. What size tank are you using?

If you decide you want to try tannins, let us know so we can tell you how. Otherwise, clean water (regular water changes) and stress coat will be the best way to keep him from getting an infection, imo. Good luck!

ditto on the stress coat. Aquarium salt at 1 tsp/gallon will help fight off infections but can only be used a max of 10 days but if you dont have any - clean water and stress coat will work just fine.

I got one of those betta starter kits but after reading some posts and looking at pictures of aquariums, i need to get a bigger one. I think its .75 gallons. So daily 100% water changes?

I would do every other day 100%, and even if you up it to 1gal that would be better. A 1-2 gal would require 1 50% & 1 100% water change per week. =)
