Excited Betta?

Ever since I got my betta Sora about 6 months ago, all he ever does is build bubble nests. Some people seem very pleased when their betta builds a nest. Mine tends to build one or two a week that cover half of his 3 gallon tank. Is this normal or is my betta just "excited?" lol. I'd use a different word but I don't want to get banned!

Some Betta's would build bubble nests in small cups, others in tanks.

The general concensus is that when Betta's are happy enough, they will build a bubble nest.

My theory is that when they are happy and familar enough with their territory, they will build a bubble nest when they're feeling a bit randy.

Do keep in mind that it is not always a happy thing. Some seem to build them out of instinct, even when they are in horrible conditions (my roommate's fish speaks of that!). however, it does sound like your boy is pretty content!

I'm not a fish expert, but I can tell he's happy . His fins have grown twice as big since I got him, and he has sooo much more color than he did in the store. I wonder why some betta fish build fewer nests if it's instictual? Hmm..
