*Waves*
I really didn't know where to put this since I don't have a Betta yet, but I would really like to introduce myself and give everyone a little taste of me.
My name is Erin Schimpf (original user name huh). I'm a stay at home mom to 3 kids (ages 6, 4, 1yrs), 6 guinea pigs, 2 ferrets, 1 mouse, 1 Yellow Bellied Cooter turtle and soon one Betta.
About 3 years ago I was really into fish but when baby number two came along followed shortly by number 3 I just didn't have much time for my tanks any more. At the time I had 3 Bettas, 1 20 gallon planted tank, 10 gallon with a goldfish, 14 gallon seamless tank and I think that's it.
I sold everything but the 20 gallon (which turned into a goldfish tank and now is empty waiting to become a sump). I recently got a 7 gallon hex tank from a friend of mine. In it is the heater, air pump and lots of scrubby stuff. So I thought where in the world is waldo... Sorry I meant to say where in the world should I put this tank? Well I placed it where my old Betta Harmony sat, right on the counter by the window and sink.
Because of the lack of filter I have to come up with something. The back does not have an area for a hang on the back filter and I don't have an under water filter that fits in it.
First thing you should all know about me is I'm crazy... wait that's not what I meant to say. What I meant was I am huge on animal welfare and because of all my pets and *cough* vet costs *cough* I do a lot of DIYs to save money. So off I went to figure out how to make some kind of filter.
So now it has a heater and corner/box air pump filter. I had 40 lbs of play sand left over from my recent redecorating of my turtle's tank, so in that went. I am currently ordering some Java Fern and Star moss. Followed by some shrimp of some kind and a Betta.
So on top of all the pets, kids and house work I also run a small online store with my pet bed business and a Photography business with my aunt, I know where do I have the time. I do sleep... really I do. ;)
Well that's me in a nut shell. Nice to meet everyone.
