1 gallon nano tank

1 betta is currently the only inhabitant. Would it be wise to maybe put a tank mate?

I wouldn't put anything else in it. 1g, IMHO is too small even for a betta. If you can, your betta would really appreciate a 5g tank or bigger.

Make sure your water is warm enough. Bettas need heat like any other tropical fish if the room temperature is not high enough and will become listless if temperatures fall much below 22-24.

okay this is actually for my gf :) my betta is in a larger tank but it is her first tank and her first fish - she plans to get a larger tank once she gets the hang of it. Assuming she moves the betta to a larger tank what should she put in the neon tank? she hates snails and shrimp :p
