my female betta has started to become more hostile towards the corys... any ideas why? my corys are only staying with her for a little longer, but when i get new fish i dont want her picking on them!

The answer to that question is probably no reason at all: such is the nature of bettas. Usually bettas can be kept successfully with other fish, especially bottom dwellers however it's imporant always to have a bail out situation where you can keep he betta by its own if need be.

You've just been unlucky by the sounds of it I'm afriad.
