bubbles coming out of his gills, not normal :/

everytime my betta gulps a piece of food bubbles escape from his gills, not bubble nest bubbles they come out of his gills not his mouth, im rlly worried Thanks

If he isn't acting like he's in pain or like he's sick, then I think it might be one of his odd quirks. I've had a few bettas that had the same thing when they attacked their food with too much force. He may just be forcing the air out of his labrynth/gills with how fast he moves to get a pellet.

I have to agree, if it only happens when he eats, then the lil piggy needs to slow down and not gulp so much when grabbing for the food hehe.
