you do NOT wanna use bettafix. it's watered down melafix which contains a chemical which can burn their labyrinth organs, which they use to breath. i've heard more bad things about it, than good. to treat fin rot, you just need clean water. i've never had a case of fin rot, in which clean water didn't help and i had to turn to meds to cure.

so for the fin rot (i didnt read all your posts sorry, too many words ^,^) well 1 medicate him, epsons salt i heard works , and 2 do a 100&% water change every day to make sure he has clean water for his little fins to heal, and 3 do thid for up to 14 days or at a minimum of 10... GOOD LUCK!!!! I HOPE HE GETS BETTER !!!!!!!! he is gorgeous any way...

Epsom salt won't help fin rot. o.0 that's more for bloating. you don't need any kind of meds for fin rot, tbh. just clean water. if you WANT to, add a little Aquarium salt(one teaspoon per gallon of water, premix it in a cup and add it slowly over the course of a half hour or so)

Thank you all so much!! Just an update, I have givien him two 100% water changes since I posted this. Most of his fin rot seems to be getting better except for on his tailfin, which is continuing to deteriorate. I ordered aquarium salt and am just waiting for it to come in before I can start him on that. I am also going to be feeding him 3x per day, a small pinch of flakes in the morning, about 2-3 pellets in the afternoon, and 2-3 bloodworms at night. Hopefully the change in diet can help his recovory. Thanks again :)

Sounds like you're on the right track. Do you have stress coat? it wouldn't hurt and has been known to help regrow fins.
