question about shrimps

so i got an amano shrimp, i know they love algae but i don't have any algae in my tank, nor i have left over fish food (since i only feed the right amount and i make sure my betta eats it). Im scared the shrimp will starve to death........should i feed him sinking algae wafer? will it be too much for one amano shrimp?

Just cut off a chunk. He'll eat it. Don't worry! :3

If left uneaten, yes. But he will eat it all. How big is it? Do you have a filter? If it got cloudy a filter would just filter it out.

i guess i won't put the whole entire piece in....just a really tiny one and see how long does it take him to eat it all

Your amanos will also enjoy a fragment of spirulina or even meaty cory pellets for variety. :) My RCS go absolutely mad for it. But then, they've taken to walking upside down on the surface and stealing the betta food, too, so I'm not too surprised. Piglets.
If you want to grow your own algae without making your tank nasty, leave some rocks in some water in the sun for a while, on a windowsill or something. They should get all nice and algae-covered. :)

Well if I go with shrimp pellet food how much should I feed. Does hikari sinking Algae wafer work? Is one pellet too big for one Amano shrimp? How often should I feed?

Hrm...I go with a quarter of a pellet for 5 shrimp. I use the Nutrafin ones. I'm not sure how you'd make a pellet that small...get more shrimps! :P
