So I'd noticed a tear in my bettas fin recently, didn't think much of it and figured it was a blown fin. He's just started blowing a bubble nest this week and I noticed he's been extra aggressive, so I figured he'd been flaring too much. I've noticed that its been getting worse and he's split it all the way down, also some fraying, but its only on his back fin. He's also been hanging around the filter lately and I thought he might've been getting it caught in the filter. But I did some research and now I'm wondering if its fin rot?? I've just tested his water and its perfectly clear, but not sure? Is it possible it is from over-flaring? Anyways I have a small tub of water heating up that I will put him in if it is fin rot, thing is the weather here is freezing so it might take a while to warm up!
Btw, if it is fin rot, and I put him in the hospital tank, will I have to completely clear out my tank? Just nervous because its a planted tank and I don't want to totally disassemble it!
Thank you for the help!!!
and I've attached a picture- you can see its only the back fin and theres some red on the edges of the fin.
