Question Betta mouth is falling apart

My female bettas mouth/nose looks enlarged and i think parts of it have come off...ive noticed this for awhile now, should i be worried?

Please fill out the questions below as best as you can. Do you have AQ and/or epsom salts on hand? I have a feeling you will need them. Another, more experienced member will hopefully be along shortly.

Housing
What size is your tank?
What temperature is your tank?
Does your tank have a filter?
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration?
Is your tank heated?
What tank mates does your betta fish live with?

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish?
How often do you feed your betta fish?

Maintenance

How often do you perform a water change?
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change?
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change?

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Ammonia:
Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed?
How has your betta fish's behavior changed?
When did you start noticing the symptoms?
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how?
Does your fish have any history of being ill?
How old is your fish (approximately)?

Yes, you should be very worried when your betta starts to fall apart. Does it look like it could be due to a parasite? I know there is one type that looks like a white worm that will attach near the mouth. I also think it can take a little piece of a betta's mouth with it when it falls off. It could also be a bacterial infection. I wouldn't know which one is the cause without a picture.

If it isn't an infection, then that only leaves water quality. I've never heard of body rot starting at the mouth since fins are much more delicate, but I doubt it's impossible. What size tank do you have and how often do you do water changes? The best treatment could be clean water and time. : /
