Hi Everyone!
I'm in the process of breeding some CT Bettas, both male and female are CT. I placed the male in the breeding tank, with the female in a jar. Once a nest was made I released the female. Lots of gill flaring and male chasing the female. That was 6 days ago and no egg laying yet. The female has swelled with eggs and both are eating well. The male tends to the nest and chases the female when he sees her. He tires to show off but when she gets closes he scares her off. The last 2 days she has been hiding behind the heater in fear. When he gets close she releases a few eggs out of fear.
So to the questions. What is going on? If it sounds like the pairing isn't going to work and I remove the female, will it hurt the female to have a belly of eggs to not release them?
Thank you for the help!
Rob
