Fry food help please

The parents haven't even met yet i'm just trying to get prepared...

So I have a pond penny that's been growing for about 10 months in the tank. Will this feed the fry until they are old enough to eat powder food? I cant seem to find any where to buy microworms. Also is a sponge filter an absolute must? I have another filter but I've also read that a filter isnt really needed. I have a heater and my female is about to burst from eggs. My male (even without knowing there's a female in the same room as him) is making a fierce bubble nest.

Also, just because your male is building a bubblenest and your female is full of eggs doesn't mean they have to be bred. I don't think you can find cultures at petstores. You may have to order them online.

as long as you have a set up tank with water and some live plants thats been sitting for at least 2 weeks, you shoud be good. the fry can eat off micro organism for the first week, then you can feed powder food to them.

You can feed egg yolk or you can also do BBS (baby brine shrimp.)

For feeding egg yolk, boil an egg and take a very tiny bit about the size of a grain of rice and mash it up in some water til it's very fine like dusty water. Then feed it to the fry. Make sure to clean up the egg that is not eaten at the end of the day or it will spoil very quickly and can cause disease in your tank.

As for Brine Shrimp I buy the eggs from a local pet store and hatch them myself. The directions are on the box. You can also buy them online.

In my experience fry refuse powdered/flake food till around 2 months tops. That's just been my experience though and it may differ from others.

microworm r hardy....
they don't die off that easy....
left one culture alone for about a month and it kind of got dry...
spray some water on it and add a little baby food on it...
it came back to life....
