Silver?

Anyone heard of people putting silver in their fry tank? I have been reading up on Jim Sonnier's site and he said he puts silver in the fry tanks. Does anyone know anything about this? I know silver has antibacterial properties when made into a solution but I never heard of it being used for fish...

That's cool, I guess I'll just have to ask the breeder himself. lol

i've heard of silver threads being used for underwears in the military for its antibacterial property. i guess weeks in trenches and battle zones without showering they really needed it. but not heard of silver being used for fishes.

I have a feeling it's for the same thing. You can buy colloidal silver and it's in a liquid form. I use it for general antibacterial properties on the body. If you get an eye infection a couple of drops of silver cures it overnight. I am guessing he uses it to keep disease at bay. My only concern would be whether it kills the good bacteria as well as the bad....

WOW!! I found it! Had to search for colloidal silver for fish to find it...
I am gonna try this, the guy who uses this is an excellent breeder and if he uses it it's got to be good...
