Talking Hello I'm new!

Hey I'm Rose. I'm new to this forum and betta fish as well.
I've been doing lots of research on them and I think I'm finally ready to get my first one!

I'm hoping to get a bright red vieltail like the one in my avatar.

So any advice will be very helpful. ^^

Hello RoseBerry and welcome to the forum. We usually recommend 2.5 gallons or larger. You don't have to have a filter but a heater is necessary since bettas are tropical fish. You'll love havinbg a betta. They have a lot of personality and can be quite entertaining. We like pictures around here so be sure to post some of your new betta if you can. :)

Hey, welcome to our awesome forum! DQ is right, 2.5 minimum. Some people will say 1.5, but 2.5 is so much easier and better. Ever get interested in other fish, you should check out our Parent Site, Tropicalfishkeeping.com. Welcome :)

Unless your house is at 82F constantly all the time, it's not warm enough for Bettas :) If your house is 78F, then your tank is 74-76F.

Welcome to the site! I hope to have a VT like the one in your profile someday :)
