Moved to new tank....

I moved my Betta, Skittles to a new filtered tank , he's been living in a bowl for about 2 months. the tank is hexagonal and has a light on top. here's my problem, the tank is fine, but when i turn the light on he then starts flaring and freaking out! should i just never have the light on or is this something that he'll get used to? i know he see's his reflection and i don't want him to stay stressed out! thank you!

I'd suggest turning on the room lights first. Wait for a few minutes and then turn on the aquarium lights.

He'll probably get used to it.

Make sure you put the room light on before you put the tank light on. That way it lights up in stages and is less noticeable/stressful for the fish.

not onlt will it reduce stress from sudden light, itll also take away the reflection on the inside of the tank if you have lights on outside as well.

usually thats not a problem, but with a betta that can see himself in the reflection it can get way stressed

My dad has a betta and when he puts a mirror to it it puffs up. My dad says it can help him kinda like a exercise helps us.
