green algea on tank walls and ornaments

i have a 5gal divided and a 2.5g. the 2.5g has the occasional areas of brown algea that get removed during wc. i have no live plants in the tank as i find the IAL obstructs the light too mich and the plants ive tried so far get shocked a bit too much. can anything remove it aside from bleach or vinegar? id like to remove it without having the tank out of commision for a few days while the chemicals dissipate.

i also have a green/brown alea problem on the ornaments, specifically when a spot gets a decent layer of algea and the ornament surface is coarse that a toothbrush is insufficient. i know a metal brush would surely take it off along with some ornament paint but i dont even dare try that. can i soak it in AQ salt water to remove it?
