New to forum and Betta keeping

Hi all

First I'll introduce myself then my new little buddy! I am a 27 year old part time waitress/fulltime housewife and new mum! I've been interested in fishkeeping for as long as I remember but have never really taken the plunge until now. I want my son to grow up with the joys of fishkeeping so I'm starting now so I can help him out when he is old enough to learn himself :)

I recently set up a 2.5G tank for my new Betta and was planning to go into town (we live out in the country) this weekend to find my first Betta, however during the black friday sales at the local walmart I happened to notice only 1 Betta the looked like he would make it so I figured I'd rescue him and see how it goes. I'm fairly confident he will be fine, he seems super happy in his new home :)

So here he is ... "Wally" the Walmart Rescue and his new home

P.S If anyone could tell me how to shrink these pic a little so I dont bombard everyone with huge pics that would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!! Congrats on being a mummy! And congrats on your new Betta!!
He is VERY cute, I love his house too.
I am sure your son will grow up enjoying fishkeeping as much as you do :)

Awesome tank and fish! You'll need to do 1-50% and 1-100% water change a week, just so you can keep him healthy and live a long life :)

Welcome to the forum and congrats on mommy-hood and your new betta! Cute home he has there! Although I do agree on frequent water changes I don't think 100percent changes should be done. It will only shock him. Good luck and hope to see more pictures posted as you go along!

100% changes are neccessary without a filter, so that is why you acclimate the betta to the new, fresh water before putting him in the new tank water. I should have mentioned that.

Congrats! He looks like a crowntail I've been eyeing at my local petstore. But except for blue rays, he has black rays. I already have a delta, or at least I'm pretty sure he's a delta... so I can't get him. He looks healthy and strong!

Thankyou for all the welcomes and advice :) Wallys first night went well, I did aclimate him for about 30-45mins when I bought him home. I'm glad someone mentioned the 100% water change as I was only intending to do a 50% 2-3x weekly but after looking around it makes more sense to do 1x 50% and 1x 100% a week. I'd rather do the extra big change rather than clutter a small tank with a filter.
