Memphis did something totally weird.

Ok we got Memphis at Petco. He was in his own 1.5 gallon tank. He wasn't eating and his colors faded. He made a bubble nest and we thought he was lonely so we put him in our 10 gallon. He did great in the 10 gallon. Well we got a new 15 gallon tall. He put him in there with his old tank mates and did fine and when we got new fish today we let them go and Memphis seemed fine. The other fish wasn't really messing with him. He did seem interested in the blue platy and swam with her some. Well all of a sudden he shot down to the bottom of the tank, back up and swam around in circles then just drifted to the bottom of the tank. After a few seconds he started swimming again. I scooped him out and put him in a jar by himself. Before this happened one of his tank mates a silvertipped shark freaked out and died. Worried about Memphis anyone have a clue what happened?

just a small bit of advice, bettas and any kind of sharks do not mix. Sharks are too aggressive.
Some bettas can tolerate tank mates, some cannot.

Sorry I can't offer any other real advice

Yes please, fill out the sticky that was posted.. it sounds as if something is wrong with the water chemistry.

Also add in what you did when putting your new tank together, how you cleaned everything, how you acclimated each fish, what you put in there, chemical wise, etc.

He did great with the catfish but don't know if the new tank mates stressed him out. We lost one of the Cats 30 minutes before his episode.

When we started adding the fish after the tank was set up and the chemicals were added. Beta went in first. We wanted him to explore first and claim territory first. Then the 2 silver sharks/catfish were added 1hour after. Then 30min later the pictus Cats were added. They were together for a day before the Platys were added and the symtoms started. Memphis was doing really well with the silvertip and pictus. He was eatting and getting color again. He had gone from blue to greyish white before we put him in with the cats. He seemed to like the warmer water. And would hand with the silvertips occassionally.

tankmates- do you mean you have six total now or ten total? and can you tell us what they are specifically?

water changes- can you tell us what you plan for them is?

water params- could you check the ammonia for us by any chance?

feeding- how many betta pellets do you feed total in a day?

the paleness then return of color sounds like maybe he got stressed....

did you acclimate the fish themselves before adding them in, or just put them right in?

you might check in the compatibility board... not sure if it's overstocked or not.... might be high ammonia from so many fish and no water change? not sure how often the changes would need to be for an uncycled fifteen gallon with that many fish and not sure howmessy each of those fish is....

10 total. The tank isn't due to be changed yet. When we first added him to the tank with the silver tipped sharks and Pictus catfish she started eatting. He ate 5 pellets the first time. Then after that he just ate 3 pellets. The new fish were added today. There wasn't time for high ammonia They were in there for like 3 minutes before he had this episode.
Yes each fish was aclimated seperated. The new fish were acclimated per bag. No fish were just thrown in there.

Well left for a few hours and came back, 1 more shark died and one of the Pictus cats isn't doing so hot. Memphis is floating on his side, still breathing but not moving. I don't think he's going to make it. The platy's we bought seem to be just fine. :/ not a happy camper.

Well woke up this morning and Memphis is alive. Not eating but alive at least. Doesn't seem to be spasming any more. Headed to the petstore to have the water tested.
