Your betta is what is called "masked" meaning the iridescent scales spread onto the face and head whereas more "traditional" colors come with a standard black head (or in other cases the head will be the same color as the body).

Isn't that the same that the dragons have? Even though all dragons have the *silver* looking scales.

Alrighty. I was just curious about his looks since his color seems to be much stronger than the rest of my boys. Probably because of the contrast between his body color and fin color.

Mint green to vibrant red most of the time, but sometimes a calm purple to that red too.

Dragon scales have a thickness to them.. that's really the only way to describe it. To really know the difference you need to see a true dragon against just a normal scaled betta. Even though the scales can be a variety of colors they're obviously thicker and have an almost powdery look to them.
