Help! Do I need an Air Pump? 3 aGallon tank.

My new tank came with an air pump, but is it neccesary to use it? I would rather not, but if you can explain why it is very nessary, I will! Thanks!

It's only neccessary if you have fish that don't have labryinth organs. Cories and bettas don't need it. In a 3g tank, you shouldnt have any fish besides a betta in there anyways :P
