Unhappy hm turned into a ct?

i have a hm betta a few months ago and a few weeks a go he had fin rot.after he had cured he now looked like a ct my cousin who breed bettas for five years even said he is a ct.before i bought him i looked carefully that he was a hm.he had a 180 degree spread.is he suffering from a disease.

It would help if you could post a picture. But, it sounds a lot like what happened to my HM, Salazar. The good news is that with Salazar it wasn't a disease. The bad news is that he was biting his tail and making himself more prone to fin rot because his tail was perpetually injured. Tail biting could be from stress or boredom, so maybe you can try adding some more places for him to hide? It could also be that he's just decided that his tail is too heavy and wants to swim better. If you have a filter, is it baffled? If it's not, the current might be making it difficult for him to swim and he could have resorted to tail biting.
