Two males not fighting? Unheard of?

One of my little guys managed to jump the divider today. I lowered the water level but was pretty surprised when they didn't fight. Is this unheard of or just a fluke?

They just might not have fought right away. I think sometimes males will display for each other before they fight, and some are more aggressive than others anyway. Or they could have just been momentarily too freaked out. They were bred to fight, but that doesn't mean they have to start wrasslin' the minute they see each other. I've heard of people keeping a male and female together for months before one decided to tear the other up. Not worth the chance imo.

I definitely wouldn't count on them not fighting in the long run.

i use to put both my males in a ice cream container when i cleaned out their tanks and there was never any fighting, but i would not trust to leave them in there for to long

Yeah, bettas are bred for fighting. Even if they don't start right away, the peace won't be kept for long. :) You're pretty lucky you caught them before they decided to do some damage!

I would not keep them together on a permanent basis. Sooner or later they'll fight and do serious damage if not kill each other.
