I love snails so I have a small yellow Apple Snail in my fish tank with my Bettas and Cory Catfish. But I also love Crabs and I didn't know if a little crab would get along with my snail. Would a crab pick on, injure or eat a snail? I was thinking of getting a little white fiddler crab from the pet store. I had snails and crabs as pets in the past but never at the same time in the same tank together.
I'd be more worried about the fish. The crab will eat anything it can reach.
Plus a fiddler crab needs access to land, and fiddler (and most crabs) are brackish water animals, and even if they can survive in fresh water for short times, you'd probably end up with a lot of problems in the end.
Hmmm.. Ok. Well then, what about getting another snail? Or would I be asking for trouble there too? (Baby snails taking over the tank because they were breeding?) ??
You should try and find a nerite snail. (May be marketed as a zebra snail)
They only breed in brackish water, so you'd have no problem. They are also way more attractive than regular snails.
Most snails are well equip with defenses to keep predators like crabs out.. I wouldn't put them with a Crayfish, but a red claw or fiddler won't bother.
