Really glad our Walmart stopped selling fish! They are expanding, so I'm hoping they don't sell fish again.

Very touching, would rescue one if I could

The Walmart near me doesn't sell Bettas, or any animals for that matter. Which is good because by the sounds of it I would constantly be bringing home a rescue!! The five I have are all from Petsmart. The only other store that sells Betta's near me is the pet store in the local mall.

We have 1 pet store in town and 1 fish store that sell Bettas! I should make the trip to the nearest Petsmart and check out what they have

Watch the labels on the top of the cups. My daughter bought a "male" but when we came home we noticed a "male" label over a "female" label. When we looked more closely it really was a female! I just brought home a betta (with dreadful fins.) labelled "female" and some of the members here think she might be a he!! Still trying to figure it out!

such a touching story!! the last time i went into walmart and they had a betta it was this beautiful opal colored CT male. i wanted him so bad. but my fiance convinced me not to... when i went in the next day there was an empty cup that had his label on it. :[ haven't seen another there since.

but i get all of mine from PetSmart anyways.
