new fish feeding

I just got a male crowntail betta about five days ago, and so far I can't get him to eat anything. I've tried one brand of pellets and freeze dried bloodworms. A woman at the pet store told me to keep trying with the food I have for a couple days since he is probably still adjusting to the new food. But I've heard a lot about some bettas just being overly picky. If he never warms up to the things I'm giving him, what should I try?

I don't know much about bettas but I have read a lot about people who buy a garlic extract that they put on the food. It is supposed to really make the food attractive to the fish. I saw some at Petsmart today when I was there. See if anyone also recommends that first before you go and buy it though.

What brand of pellets are you feeding. Bettas won't eat larger pellets. They like teenie tiny pellets. I give mine aqua culture (walmart) and they go crazy for it.

hbh betta bites. my roommate's betta eats them. but her fish is slightly bigger than mine. I've tried crushing the pellets, and he still doesn't go for it.

My Betta won't touch pellets at all(especially Wardley's Essentials)but, she does eats flakes and blood worms. You could try buying Tetra BettaMin Tropical Medley(flakes).
